NCAA: Just-In-Time Interactive eLearning Tools
THE CLIENT
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a non-profit association which regulates intercollegiate athletics programs at colleges and universities across the United States. They have over 3,000 members and approximately 200 committees that monitor and coordinate university athletics events and ensure a successful student-athlete experience. The NCAA supports student-athletes’ success on the field, in the classroom, and in life by integrating athletics into higher education.
THE CHALLENGE / OPPORTUNITY
The NCAA was launching a new online data management system containing key data for Division I and Division II universities, to use in planning and oversight of their athletic programs. The NCAA needed to educate university presidents, athletics administrators, and other campus stakeholders on how to use the system.
THE SOLUTION
The Springboard team created eLearning modules that serve as just-in-time resources for campus stakeholders using the new data management system. These modules include how-to information, a tutorial on the key features, and specific scenarios to allow users to practice working with the system to make data-driven decisions, even while traveling or otherwise on-the-go.
THE RESULTS
On-campus stakeholders using the new NCAA data management system – called Institutional Performance Program (IPP) – were able to build their knowledge of the system at point-of-need and use the data to make data-driven decisions for their institutions. The IPP consolidates data into a user-friendly format, provides leaders with better visibility into their institutional data through reporting functionalities, and ultimately facilitates better-informed decisions and strategic planning on campus.
