ATD: Strategic Approach and Design for a Professional Career Path

The Association for Talent Development (ATD, formerly ASTD) has a wealth of professional development content and printed materials, and a captive audience of trainers and other related professionals who look to the association for guidance as they move through their career path. What ATD needed was a strategic way to organize all their learning content into a career map, so that their audiences could access the right learning assets at the right time throughout their careers. ATD engaged Springboard to facilitate a collaborative planning process for this new Career Navigator initiative. We worked with an internal team to establish the business goals and approach for the career path, conducted external research into similar models, and recommended a specific structure for the career path. In addition, we enabled the ATD team to come to clarity and consensus around their target audience, the specific levels and paths for the Navigator, and a process to map the ATD existing competencies and learning content into the various paths. The Springboard team then conducted a vendor search to develop the online tool, and partnered with ATD to select the final vendor and launch the Navigator.
