ATD: Creating a Complete Ecosystem for a Nationwide Learning Certification Program

THE CLIENT

The Association for Talent Development (ATD, formerly the American Society for Training and Development, ASTD), is the world’s largest association dedicated to those who develop talent in the workplace. These professionals help others achieve their full potential by improving their knowledge, skills, and abilities. ATD’s members come from more than 120 countries and work in public and private organizations in every industry sector. ATD supports the work of professionals locally in more than 125 chapters, international strategic partners, and global member networks.

THE CHALLENGE / OPPORTUNITY

ATD engaged the Springboard team to refresh all of the learning/preparatory materials for their Certified Performance and Learning Professional (CPLP) certification. This included updating an existing classroom workshop and creating both a virtual classroom version of the workshop and the design for an asynchronous version.

THE SOLUTION

In addition to creating an engaging set of learning and preparatory materials, what the CPLP refresh needed was a one-stop resource center for those interested in certification – a place where they could go to find out about the certification, self-assess their knowledge, determine next steps, and establish a plan for preparing for the certification. We created this interactive >> Orientation that pulled together all of the ATD resources and enabled candidates to access resources to help them learn.

THE RESULTS

CPLP candidates now have an entire suite of valuable tools available to them as they complete their >> CPLP Journey. The CPLP Interactive Guide provides a one-stop resource center that enables each candidate to be successful, with everything together in a flow that makes sense and is easily accessible. The candidates have access to a Knowledge Self-Assessment as well as a Learning Style Preferences diagnostic tool, so that they can customize their CPLP Journey to match their individual learning needs. And finally, candidates can register for preparatory programs offered in various delivery formats. Ultimately, candidates have a clearer vision for the journey ahead to obtaining their CPLP, and the right tools and resources to ensure successful and retained certification.
